Wellbeing Groups

We are home to several regular well-being groups that provide a safe space and gentle socialisation for all who attend. From peer support to nature therapy, writing groups and more, we hope to tackle the loneliness and isolation so often felt when experiencing difficult times.

Set up in response to the pandemic, they now play a fantastic role in the community and in the lives of many; they are mostly peer-led, with each and every person’s contribution being valuable and essential in enabling the groups to function in the best possible way.

It’s important to remember that good mental health requires more than simply talking, connection to others and a sense of belonging is a fundamental human need. We’re so proud of these groups and the support that they offer, why not take a closer look and see if you would like to join us at one?

  • A simple gathering of hobbyists, where we each bring our own project and enjoy the company of others. Whether you cross stitch, crochet or finger knit, we welcome all yarn based crafts to join us, from beginners to advanced, we want to learn from you all. This group is informal, light and full of laughter. Unsurprisingly, it is fuelled by tea and biscuits!

  • Colour and creativity is our thing…. from felt to feathers, paint pens to pipe cleaners, beads to buttons and ribbons to rags, you name it, we can make something of it. Some weeks we work on projects for the community or for Elephant Rooms, others, we try our hand at new skills. A light-hearted group with crafting and conversation at its core, you don’t have to be an expert to join us, just handy with a glue gun or simply making a good cuppa!

  • Enjoy literature, poetry, prose and more amongst a small group, either in person or you can join us online from the comfort of your home. Immerse yourself in reading, writing and listening, be in the present moment and find flow. Practice creative writing and listen to the words of others whilst being supported and encouraged by the group leader, Huw. Sessions are fairly structured and will offer you the chance to learn and connect with others through discourse.

  • This group is for anyone that has experienced poor mental health or is experiencing poor mental health. A weekly meet up where you can connect with others and share your experiences or not, the choice is yours but hopefully you will at least find a shared sense of belonging. With a focus on talking in a relaxed and friendly manner, we hope to normalise conversations around mental health and how it affects us week to week.

  • Mental health has no gender and we believe that it is important to encourage men to open up. This group provides a space for men who might be feeling overwhelmed and struggling to navigate their way through the ever increasing pressures that modern society places on them. With a focus on talking and sharing experiences, we hope to empower men to communicate their emotions and to include themselves in the conversation around mental well-being.

  • Each month, on the 4th Tuesday of the month, 5.30 – 7pm, we are holding a Reiki share in our beautiful retreat. This is open to anyone that already has some training, with all with levels 1 through to master level welcome. It’ll be a chance to refresh your skills, practice, share techniques and also receive reiki. It will also be lovely to meet other reiki practitioners and support one another locally.

Fran Smith from QiTransitions will be holding the space for everyone. We’ll start with a gentle meditation to get us in the mood, and then give and receive reiki to one another. They’ll no doubt be time for a cup of tea and a chat too. Come and be part of what will hopefully be some lovely, relaxed, informal and regenerative evenings.

    Cost is £7.
