Enjoy a creative session where you will learn how to make a silver and copper spinner ring using the art of traditional silversmithing. A spinner ring has an inner band (satellite ring) that spins freely within a wider outer band and is also known as fidget or meditation ring.
During this 3hr class, you will learn how to create a 6-8mm wide sterling silver main outer ring and a narrow copper inner ring, all which can be left plain or textured using hammers and metal stamps. The class will start with a look at the materials and tools we’ll be using, followed by a demonstration of all the techniques required to create your own ring. These techniques include sawing (piercing), filing, shaping, annealing, forging, texturing, soldering and polishing. At the end of the workshop, you will have created a beautiful silver and copper spinner ring to take home, all handmade and unique to you.
This is the perfect introduction to making silver jewellery using traditional metalsmithing methods and is suitable for both complete beginners, or anyone with some prior experience.
The 3hr class costs £55.00, which includes enough materials to make one spinner ring, consisting of a sterling silver outer band and one copper spinning inner ring. Should you wish to change the inner ring from copper to silver, there will be additional silver wire available on the day to purchase for a nominal charge (approx £6-8 per ring).
