The Core of Yoga

THE CORE IS A CRUCIAL SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR YOUR BODY.

Laura takes a holistic approach to understanding your core, as your core is more than just muscles; it is a dynamic, living, breathing container for your digestive and reproductive organs. Maintaining a strong core is therefore key if you want both a strong and balanced mind and body.

WHY IS THE CORE IMPORTANT?

Balance and Stability:

A strong, active core provides the foundation for stability both on and off the mat. It helps you sustain good posture by stabilising your spine, whilst helping enhance your balance and stability, which helps to reduce the risk of falling or losing control.

Mind-Body Connection:

Focusing on your core during yoga practice encourages a greater awareness of movement and breath, enhancing your mind-body connection.

Breath Control:

The diaphragm, the primary breathing muscle, is part of the core. Strengthening the core enhances diaphragmatic breathing, enabling more controlled, relaxed breaths.

A Healthy Pelvic Floor:

The core includes muscles that make up the pelvic floor. Strengthening these muscles supports pelvic floor health, which is essential for overall stability and strength.

Injury Prevention:

A stable and strong core helps distribute stresses more evenly around the body, reducing the risk of injuries and falls.

WHAT WILL YOU DO IN THE WORKSHOP?

This workshop aims to use yogic core exercises to strengthen the muscles of the core, enhance stability and balance, and improve your overall well-being. You will:

Take a brief look at the anatomy of the core
Strengthen your core muscles with yoga poses and yogic breathing techniques
Practice using your core to enhance stability and balance
Experience a restful and relaxing core-focused meditation focusing on mind-body connection
This workshop will be a fun couple of hours where you will learn about the importance of a strong, stable core and how it enhances stability and balance, and improves your overall well-being.

The Core of Yoga Workshop will conclude with tea and treats, especially selected by Laura to support the theme of the workshop.

Everyone is welcome to this yoga workshop; you do NOT need to have done any yoga before, although you do need to be able to get up and down off the floor.
